First Morel of 2008!

The season has begun! There's probably only a handful of people who live below the 45th parallel that will understand what "season" it is. Cadence and her daddy found her first morel mushroom today. It's kinda funny that her mommy is the one who loves to find morels, and her daddy takes her out for her first trip! They found 9 today, the location, a closely guarded secret, Brandon wouldn't even tell me. Cadence called her Papa and he was very jealous, but excited she is getting out there and finding them. When Brandon and Cadence came home she showed me all her mushrooms and said "We won't cook these mommy", and took a big bite out of one, dirt and all. That made daddy proud!

Brandon's Birthday!

Today is Brandon's 31st birthday! This morning when Cadence got up I told her to wish her daddy a happy birthday. She still was half-asleep, so I went and finished getting ready for work. When I came to eat breakfast, I asked her if she had wished her daddy a happy birthday yet. She said "I already wished daddy happy birthday, I only say it one time",(with her finger pointed at me). Wow, do we have attitude already or what!!
Brandon did not have to work today, no state workers do not get their birthdays off, I know what you are thinking everyone. He spent the day doing stuff outside, fixing the mailbox, things like that. He even had to make his own dinner, poor guy. I didn't get home from work until 6:30, so we had a quick dinner and birthday bessert (Cadence's word for dessert). We put Ainslee to bed before bessert, and Cadence said "I eat Ainslee's bessert after I finish mine". And she sure did, I think she thought she pulled one over on us!
At least tomorrow Brandon can continue his birthday celebration, we have a babysitter coming over and we are going out to dinner, just the two of us!!!!

Planting Season

For all of you who do not live up here in God's country you may have a different idea of what planting season is right now. Our gardens and flower beds are not yet on our to do list. We still have snow piles and some wooded areas are not fully rid of their snow yet. So planting season for us northern folks has a different meaning. This is the time of year when I travel around the state "planting" fish into Michigan's many lakes and rivers. It is roughly a six week ordeal for us. Some of the pictures show a little bit of what is involved. I do have to admit I may becoming a local celebrity with having my picture in a couple of the papers up here so far. What can I say I have a face that people love (no comments please). I would also like to take the time and thank our family, friends and co-workers who have or may be helping up out with the girls during this time. My schedule this time of year is less flexible and can include late nights or spending the night away from home.

April 18th, 2008

It's our very first post, Brandon just asked "How often are we going to do this?" I hope to now post our monthly updates, and any interesting happenings here. We finally got rid of dial-up, so we are able to use the Internet easily and most importantly, quickly, from home! I shouldn't say we got rid of dial up, we found an amazing alternative, even though we apparently live too far out in the country for any other modes of getting online.
Here's some new pictures of the girls, they are growing and changing, just like I always say they are. Cadence is becoming very protective of "my stuff", and Ainslee loves getting her hands on anything Cadence plays with.
Ainslee now has three teeth, with another coming in. A month or so ago her top front teeth came in, and one is now in on the lower. It's still strange to see her with teeth when she smiles, we were so used to that gummy smile!
