Mele Kalikimaka

Cadence has heard this song in the car a few times, and she started singing it on her own at home. I downloaded the song, and today I got her on video singing it, it's too cute!!!

Children's Christmas Program

Last night the girls sang in the children's
Christmas program at Church.
They both, and all the kids, did a great job,
it was so cute to watch.

Ainslee decided during the dress rehearsal that she wanted to sing up on stage and dress up in the nativity. She learned all the songs right along with Cadence so we decided to let her go ahead and participate. She LOVED it, and was not shy at all!! Cadence also had a lot of fun up there, and actually sang and danced (last year she did not sing, dance or do anything), so it was neat to see the change in her!

They are singing "Children Go Where I Send Thee/Go Tell it on the Mountain" Cadence is on the far right and Ainslee is right down front.
You will be able to see them better about a minute in, it starts out pretty dark.
Enjoy and may your family be blessed this Christmas season!

Super Goalie

This picture was right after Brandon had a fantastic game! His team was down 2-0, and they came back to win the game with 8 seconds left on the clock. Brandon stopped his first ever penalty shot and had some pretty fantastic saves. It's not like he's quite ready for the NHL, but his ladies were pretty impressed with his skills. Even players on both teams told him he did a great job and that was the most exciting game they played in years!!
Keep it up B, you're doing great!

Enjoying the Weather

The girls made ornaments a couple weeks ago, and we decided to paint and decorate them. Luckily the weather was amazing, so we were able to spend the afternoon outside decorating our ornaments and making a wonderful mess!! Who would have thought on a mid-November day, we would be lucky enough to be outdoors. I will gladly take more days just like that.
As I am writing this the girls and B are outside "On a Bear Hunt",
enjoying more of this beautiful weather!!

First Visit to Papa's Work

The girls had their first checkup with Papa. Cadence has had her teeth cleaned at my work before and did great, so I wasn't too worried about her doing well. Ainslee has been to my work but we have never checked or cleaned her teeth, so I wasn't sure how she would do. Both girls did great, I was so impressed!

Look at her watching Papa!

Labor Day Weekend

We have had a fantastic Labor Day Weekend this year (besides the fact that Brandon worked the weekend). We started out with Daddy and the girls camping in the backyard for the first time. Both girls made it through the night without any issues, but Brandon said that the ground must be getting harder, or he's getting older cause it was tough on his back! We also had dinner out at Aunt Mo's out on Douglas Lake, it was a stunningly beautiful night, the lake was so calm and serene. On Labor Day we walked the Mighty Mac, for the third time! We arrived in Mackinac City at 7am, got right on a bus to St. Ignace, and on the bridge we sat for an hour and a half, due to a broken down car, it was not fun to say the least. Once we got on our adventure started we made it across the very foggy bridge and got our certificates. There's something about walking on the bridge, I just love it! The rest of Monday we spent playing and having fun as a family.

Cadence's Actual Birthday

The actual day of Cadence's birthday is a little less dramatic than her party. We started off with a pancake breakfast.
She headed off to school with her new backpack. She brought treats in to school and they sang happy birthday to her.

At night we had dinner, sang happy birthday again, ate birthday cake and opened presents. It was a nice day.

Cadence's Fourth Birthday

Cadence celebrated her 4th Birthday with a Princess Party!!
She dressed up as Princess Belle and looked adorable.
Ainslee was Snow White, Mom was their Queen, and Dad their King.
Papa dressed up for the occasion, he was a King, Aunt Jola was a princess,
even Aunt Tiff was adorned in her regal wear!
Thanks to all for going along for the fun of it!

Princess Birthday Cake
(she specifically asked for strawberry cake and strawberry ice cream)

Trip to the Island

We got up Saturday morning and hopped on over to Mackinac Island.
We had a lot of fun, rode on a horse-drawn carriage, saw butterflies, and of course had to do the tourist tradition of having some fudge and ice cream!
Brandon and I thought the best part was going under the bridge on the ferry.
Cadence said her favorite was "horses, ice cream and riding on top of the boat",
Ainslee said "Got my head stuck"- to explain, on the way back to Mackinac City we rode on the top deck of the ferry, Ainslee decided to stick her head between the boat's railings and got her head stuck. She started staying "head stuck, head stuck", so I jumped up and twisted her head to get her out, she was a little shook up, but after she calmed down, we all laughed about it!!

Just getting on the ferry

Going under the bridge on the ferry, truly amazing!

Ballerinas and BB's

Don't Judge, Just Laugh!!!

We are destined to have both girly girls and tom boys, which makes both of us happy!

The girls dress up almost daily in their ballerina leotards and dance around, and yesterday, they got their first hand at hunting with daddy. We were outside and Brandon was target shooting with his bow, and the neighbor down the road started shooting his gun, apparently target shooting as well. Yes, I know we live in Northern Michigan, and this seems somewhat redneck! Anyway, Cadence asked to shoot daddy's bb gun, so he got it out and they shot balloons and a tin can.

Last year she asked to shoot, and Brandon said "When you get a little older you can shoot daddy's bb gun". Well she got all upset and started crying because she thought he said "baby gun", and she said "I'm not a baby, I'm a big girl".
